Top 11 WordPress Plugins
This time we are going to use our research to determine what plugins WordPress bloggers favour over the rest!
Sometimes security research allows us more then just doom and gloom. This table will show us what plugins WordPress blogs use most from the results of wp-scanner. This may be useful for the rest of us, as we may want to utilise these same plugins to help develop our own blogs further. I have included the links to these plugins as well as some comments.
Some of you may be wondering why we listed 11 instead of 10 plugins . . . well the reason is, that plugin 10 and 11 were so close we thought we better include the runner-up.

Collin, agree totally mate. Its not surprising to see Akismet at the bottom, as its installed by default.
what I found interesting is that some blogs had removed Akismet. Was kind of curious what other anti-spam plugins were available.
Thank you for providing that list.
I was just wondering if wp-scanner can really find out *every* plugin that is in use? Or do you have just a list of for instance 50 plugins which are checked whether installed or not?
Michael, good question. Testing for every plugin is certainly a goal, but I can think of some better ways to do it.
Instead, we have a good compilation of plugins we test for based on a variety of sources (i.e. top 10 plugin lists) etc.
So yes, currently wp-scanner only tests for the more common plugins. However, future versions will check for directory listings which may leak more info. If you want to check if a certain plugin is tested for, please drop us an email.

Kinda yawnsome that the Adsense plugin is in there, although not surprising.
So many people think that they are going to become millionaires from it. Oh, how wrong they are.
Nice to see Akismet at the bottom of this list though!
